***If you have ever fallen off your horse with your helmet on, you should replace your helmet, as the foam after an impact can lose it effectiveness.

Horse Judging Events -- 2008

horse judging

Horse judging consists of making a careful study of animals and measuring them individually against a commonly accepted ideal. Horse judging is an art where an authoritative person expresses his or her opinion of a class, by his or her order of placement. An educated judge should be able to express his or her opinion orally to reinforce the order of placement. Being on a 4-H judging team teaches you the parts of the horse, blemishes and unsoundness, and conformational faults in addition to learning the various breeds of horses (Arabian, Morgan, Quarter Horse, Paint, etc). Learning to give oral reasons gives an even better understanding of the various breeds and the terminology to describe the attributes of each breed.
If you would like to become a part of this unique opportunity team, please attend the following judging sessions! As the weather warms up, we will be venturing to local barns to do live judging. If you have any questions, please contact Danielle Nickels at 608-214-6607 or Alissa Grenawalt at 608-328-9441.
