The Green County Master Gardeners Association will be holding their annual symposium- Garden Inspirations for All Seasons- “No Fear Gardening” on Saturday, March 11, 2017 from 8:00am -3:30pm at the Peppercorn Banquets, 1417 Mansion Dr, Monroe, WI.
Does the thought of a trying a new gardening technique or planting leave you with fearful reservations? This symposium is designed to encourage new techniques, put your fears at ease, have some fun and take home new gardening knowledge.
Guest speakers will include Dennis Anderson, Paradigm Gardens, speaking on “Don’t be afraid of the Water! Hydroponics 101”; Kyle Aurit, Bailey’s Nursery, speaking on “Conquering Your Fear of Roses”; Dan Cunningham, Fiskars, speaking on “Tools of the Trade, Empower Yourself”; Matt Zielinski, Backyard Havens, speaking on “The Taming of the Shrub–and More!”; and Tanna McKeon, GCMGA Member, speaking on “Propagating Plants–Go Ahead and Make the Cut!”.
Advance registrations of $35.00 per person are due by March 1st; after March 1st, registrations are $40.00 per person. Thirty-Seven Green County area residents were recently recognized for earning their Master Gardener Certification at the annual meeting of the Green County Master Gardeners Association. The main functions of the group are to serve the needs of all horticulturists in the Green County area, provide continuing education for it’s members, provide community services through volunteer activities, exchange gardening ideas, promote responsible and sound gardening practices and to provide a link between the community and UW-Extension. Information about the Green County Master Gardeners Association
The Wisconsin Master Gardener Program teaches volunteers who aid University of Wisconsin Cooperative Extension Staff by helping people in the community better understand horticulture and their environment.
The Green County Master Gardeners Association Mission is:
- To serve the needs of all gardeners in Green County and the surrounding area.
- To promote the continuing education of members through horticultural education, programs, tours, etc.
- To promote community service through volunteer activities.
- To recognize members who meet and maintain certification.
- To provide for the exchange of ideas and to provide opportunities to promote the understanding of responsible gardening practices
- To provide a link between the community and the UW-Extension.

Green County Master Gardeners now have the use of a reference library to use in answering questions from homeowners or in researching topics you may be interested in. The reference materials are located in the hallway area near the Green County UW-Extension Office in the Justice Center, Monroe. A listing of the reference materials that are currently available.
