The UW-Extension Office is proud to welcome Hayley Jordan, from Juda, WI to their educator team. Hayley has accepted the role of Family Living Educator, and will be sharing her time between Green and Lafayette Counties.
Green County UW-Extension’s newly hired Family Living Educator, Hayley Jordan, firmly believes that happy, healthy, productive families are extremely vital to communities now and in the future. Jordan has a previous working background in Occupational Therapy in southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois. “In providing therapy, my goal was to return people to the community to get back to their daily activities,” says Jordan. “Here, I will be educating people to move forward with the university research based-resources available to them.”
Jordan is a native of Green County and graduated from Monroe High School. She grew up on a dairy farm south of Monroe that her parents and brother still operate. She was a member of Green County 4-H and the Monroe FFA Chapter. Jordan is a previous Green County Dairy Queen and Green County Fairest of the Fair. She competed and became the Wisconsin Fairest of the Fair, serving the state for a year in that position. Jordan earned her degree from University of Wisconsin-Madison in occupational therapy.
The Family Living Educator position can include providing education focused on family financial security and working to enhance family relationships, parenting and childcare. She may also provide leadership and research-based information to community-based coalitions and organizations on housing, mental health, and family issues. These coalitions and organizations are actively engaged in making community level changes and impacts.
“I’m anxious to help develop the position that is meant to benefit families and others in both Green and Lafayette counties,” says Jordan. “There are so many areas where I hope to offer my expertise and make a difference in people’s lives and that really excites me.”
Hayley’s husband, Matt Jordan, is also a Green County native and a graduate of Juda High School. Previously Hayley & her husband owned and operated Jordan Implement in Juda, WI. They have two daughters, Peyton and Mykenna. Together as a family, they enjoy outdoor activities, including camping and ATV riding.
Jordan will be doing needs assessments, with both counties, to determine the best ways for programming in her area of expertise. Jordan looks forward to meeting families and working in both Green and Lafayette Counties. For more information, contact her in Green County at 608.328.9440 or Lafayette County at 608-776-4820.
