Green County Master Gardeners Association presents the 11th Annual Symposium, Garden Inspirations for All Seasons on Saturday, March 10, 2018, from 8:00am – 3:30pm at the Peppercorn Banquets Ludlow Mansion, 1417 Mansion Dr, Monroe, WI.
This year’s theme is “Straw Bale Gardens” and will include keynote speaker Joel Karsten from Minnesota. He earned a BS in Horticulture from the University of Minnesota and is the author of “straw Bale Gardening”. His ideas have been enthusiastically embraced globally, making his books best-sellers in many languages. A popular speaker, he makes appearances around the world at events celebrating innovation, garden enthusiasts, and healthful lifestyles.
Other even features will include speakers on “Using Herbs as Home Remedies for Everyday Ailments”, “Handling Invasives and Early Detection”, “Using Mulches–Weed Control & More”, and “Seed Saving 101”. The event cost includes all handouts, morning beverages and rolls, lunch, and afternoon refreshments . The annual silent auction will be available and door prizes will be awarded.
Registration costs are $35 per person by March 1st, or $40 per person after March 1st. The Green County Master Gardeners Association held their annual meeting on Thursday, November 9th, 2017 at the Green County Justice Center.
Thirty-Three Green County area residents were recently recognized for earning their Master Gardener Certification at the annual meeting of the Green County Master Gardeners Association. The main functions of the group are to serve the needs of all horticulturists in the Green County area, provide continuing education for it’s members, provide community services through volunteer activities, exchange gardening ideas, promote responsible and sound gardening practices and to provide a link between the community and UW-Extension. Information about the Green County Master Gardeners Association
The Wisconsin Master Gardener Program teaches volunteers who aid University of Wisconsin Cooperative Extension Staff by helping people in the community better understand horticulture and their environment.
The Green County Master Gardeners Association Mission is:
- To serve the needs of all gardeners in Green County and the surrounding area.
- To promote the continuing education of members through horticultural education, programs, tours, etc.
- To promote community service through volunteer activities.
- To recognize members who meet and maintain certification.
- To provide for the exchange of ideas and to provide opportunities to promote the understanding of responsible gardening practices
- To provide a link between the community and the UW-Extension.
