The Green County Master Gardeners Association held their annual meeting on Thursday, November 9th, 2017 at the Green County Justice Center.

Thirty-Three Green County area residents were recently recognized for earning their Master Gardener Certification at the annual meeting of the Green County Master Gardeners Association. The main functions of the group are to serve the needs of all horticulturists in the Green County area, provide continuing education for it’s members, provide community services through volunteer activities, exchange gardening ideas, promote responsible and sound gardening practices and to provide a link between the community and UW-Extension. The GCMGA is located in Monroe, Wisconsin and serves the needs of all gardeners in Green County and the surrounding area.

The Wisconsin Master Gardener Program teaches volunteers who aid University of Wisconsin Cooperative Extension Staff by helping people in the community better understand horticulture and their environment.

The Green County Master Gardeners Association Mission is:

  1. To serve the needs of all gardeners in Green County and the surrounding area.
  2. To promote the continuing education of members through horticultural education, programs, tours, etc.
  3. To promote community service through volunteer activities.
  4. To recognize members who meet and maintain certification.
  5. To provide for the exchange of ideas and to provide opportunities to promote the understanding of responsible gardening practices
  6. To provide a link between the community and the UW-Extension.

Green County Master Gardeners now have the use of a reference library to use in answering questions from homeowners or in researching topics you may be interested in. The reference materials are located in the hallway area near the Green County UW-Extension Office in the Justice Center, Monroe. A listing of the reference materials that are currently available.
